Securing your financial future

For a comfortable retirement you need good preparation and the right advice.

Sharon Ferguson and Ann Thompson have a combined 25 years experience in the financial services industry and are sought after specialists in the region for aged care advice.

Specialising in insurance, superannuation, retirement planning, investment advice and aged care, Sharon is an expert in developing financial strategies that meet her clients’ changing financial needs. With specialised knowledge in the areas of life insurance and Self Managed Superannuation Funds, Ann can advise in all aspects of financial planning.

Government assistance

If you need some help at home or are considering moving into an aged care home, you may first need a free assessment by an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT).

A member of an ACAT will talk to you about your current situation and work out if you are eligible to receive government-subsidised aged care services.

The Australian Government's myGov is a fast and simple way to access government services online.

A secure myGov account lets you link a range of Australian Government services and access them all in one place.

Centrelink staff will be at the expo to help you access myGov.

Aged care options

Most of us want to remain independent throughout retirement and to stay in control of where and how we live. As we age, some things may become harder to do on our own.

Home care or residential care services are available to older Australians who either need some help at home or can no longer live independently.

Deciding to move into an aged care home is often a time of stress, high emotion, a longing for the past and uncertainty about the future. It is a challenging and emotional decision for the person moving and their family, friends and carers.

The expo will host more than ten aged care facility providers available to chat about what will best suit your needs in the future.

Getting your affairs in order

We understand that some conversations are difficult to have, but sharing your wishes can save stress and angst for you and your family.

Power of Attorney, wills, probate and estate planning give you great peace of mind knowing that your loved ones will be provided for as you intended and will determine how your assets are to be divided in the event of your death or incapacitation.

Take some time to think about how you’d like to be remembered and celebrated, then share those thoughts with the ones you love.

Perhaps the best time to arrange a funeral is before it’s needed, without the emotion and stress that often accompanies a death.

Taking out a pre-paid funeral plan is as much a part of caring for your family, as preparing a will, or purchasing insurance.

Throughout the Ageing and Retirement Expo you will have the opportunity to listen to experts in their field discuss key topics that are important to the choices you will make as you become older.

With over 20 business exhibitors on board, you will be able to talk face to face with the people that can help you and your family make the right choices relating to your financial & legal matters, lifestyle choices and assistance, government benefits, funeral plans, travel plans, volunteering or keeping active just to name a few!
